I have loved art ever since I was a child. I would sort my toys by color and spend hours drawing animals and food with faces on them. In grammar school I discovered embroidery and quilting and loved sorting through the bolts of fabric at the quilt store and coordinating fabrics for my quilts. In high school I became very interested in scrapbooking which again involved sifting though patterns to design the final piece of art. I decided to go to college for graphic design and while designing a project for one of my classes I discovered the Print & Pattern blog which introduced me the the amazing world of surface pattern design. That Spring I went to my first Surtex show and it blew my mind. It was then that I decided that this was what I truly wanted to do. After graduation I continued to walk the trade shows and took several online classes to improve my portfolio. In January of 2015 I met Brenda Manley of Brenda Manley Designs and signed with her soon after. It has been wonderful being part of her supportive community. I am a child at heart so I love to design anything whimsical and cute. I also take countless pictures of anything from flowers to textures, as well as pictures for color inspiration. I carry my sketchbook everywhere I go so I can sketch or write down ideas before scanning them into the computer. I create my art both digitally and traditionally depending on the look I’m going for.
